Building Soil Biology with Jay Young

  • South Hutchinson Community Center 101 West Avenue C South Hutchinson, KS, 67505 United States (map)

Wednesday, January 31st at the South Hutchinson Community Center, 101 W. Ave C, South Hutchinson 67505.  Lunch at Noon, Speaker at 12:30pm

Jay Young along with his father, Jerry, are the owners and operators of Young and Son Farms and Young Red Angus near Tribune, Kansas. The Young family  grows wheat, corn, and milo using no-till and cover crops to improve the health of their soils. They farm both dryland and irrigated cropland. Grazing cover crops is an important part of their operation with a focus on leaving armor for the soil and improving their soils through grazing. In 2020, Jay built a Johnson-Su Bioreactor to produce compost extracts and composted solids for application on the cropland, in efforts to lower inputs for their cropping system.  Jay brings lots of energy to his presentations, so if you want to learn lots and get excited about what soil health could do for your farm, don’t miss this workshop.

This workshop is sponsored by Fed N Happy located in Hutchinson.

Please RSVP by Monday, January 29th so we can plan for enough food. Simply text or call Howard at 620-727-6546.
