Winter Workshop Double Feature: Kevin Wiltse and Mac Kincaid

  • Pleasantview Activity Center 5015 South Dean Road Hutchinson, KS, 67501 United States (map)

Maccauley Kincaid farms with his wife and children near Jasper Missouri. His 1,000 acre farm consists of cropland where he grows a diversity of crops that include corn, soybeans, oats, barley & cover crops. Macauley’s livestock consisting of cow calf pairs and sheep graze on the 150 acres of grass and on the annual cover crops he grows. According to Macauley diversity is the key to being resilient through variability, stopping one bad harvest from breaking the bank. If you want to learn how to diversify your farm and make it more resilient come and learn from Macauley.

Kevin Wiltse from near Timken Kansas began his regenerative journey on a bus tour with his father to Dakota Lakes Research Farm in South Dakota in 1996. When Kevin and his father returned home, they purchased no-till drills and sold most of their tillage equipment. Fast forward to today, an Aldo Leopold Award winner, Kevin grows diverse cover crop mixes to graze with his cattle. Over the past few years, he has began to transition some of his cropland to perennial grasses with the goal of producing more grass finished beef.

Lunch will be served at Noon.
